Water Utility Services

New Home Construction

The first step in determining whether your property can be serviced is to determine what area you are located in (see list below) and to contact our Director of Public Works to see if municipal water service is available in your area:

The Victoria County Water Utility will assist in determining if your property is within the current Municipal Water System Boundaries using your civic address information or your PID#. The utility will advise whether there is public water main along the frontage of your property and whether there is an existing service to your property.

A New Service Application form must be submitted to the VCWU. You can download the form by clicking the link above or by visiting the Muncipal Offices at 495 Chebucto Street, Baddeck, NS.

Once the new service application has been approved, the service must be inspected and approved by the VCWU's before a meter is installed.

Please refer to the VCWU's Requirements and Regulations for Water Service and Meter Installations form for additional information and to ensure these requirements are met.

Once the service is inspected and approved, you may contact Utility Billing Department at (902) 295-3669 (Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) to arrange for an appointment to install the water meter and to set up an account. There is a $125.00 account creation fee which will appear on your first water invoice.

Existing Home on Municipal System

If you are taking over an existing water account, please complete the Application for Water Service form (linked below) or contact our Billing Department at (902) 295-3669 (Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.).

Seasonal Customers

If you require your service to be discontinued for a period of time, please contact our Billing Department at (902) 295-3669 (Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.).

There is a $50.00 fee for turning the water off and no additional fee for turning it on again when it is requested during regular working hours.

Permanent Cancellations

If you are moving and wish to cancel your existing water service, please contact our Billing Department at (902) 295-3669 (Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)

There is a $25.00 fee for turning off the water.
