CANADA SUMMER JOB OPPORTUNITIES


The Municipality of the County of Victoria is now accepting applications for summer employment opportunities for youth aged 15–30. These positions offer valuable hands-on experience in recreation, community development, and municipal administration, while contributing to meaningful programs and services throughout the county. 

Available Positions: 

Summer Recreation Leaders (3) – 8 weeks – $19/hr – 35 hours/week

Under the direction and guidance of the Recreation and Active Living Coordinator, the Summer Recreation Leaders will lead recreation-based programs following a structured curriculum. This role involves planning and implementing activities for various age groups across rural communities in Victoria County. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in planning, organization, and leadership,

Responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming and registering participants and their parents
  • Leading planned program activities
  • Ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all participants
  • Supporting program promotion, inventory, cleanup, storage, repair, organization, and maintenance of municipally owned equipment and supplies
  • Collaborating with volunteers and providing on-site customer service
  • Researching new trends and managing program evaluations, including data collection and reporting
  • Participating in regular staff meetings and contributing to team initiatives

Eligibility:

Community Summer Support Workers (2) – 8 weeks – $19/hr – 35 hours/week

Under the direction and guidance of the Community Development Coordinator, the Community Summer Support Workers will lead community-based programing and assist local not-for-profit organizations in delivering activities tailored to various age groups across Victoria County. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in community engagement, program delivery and collaboration with local organizations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming and registering residents and program participants
  • Leading planned program activities
  • Collaborating with local not-for-profit groups to develop and implement program plans
  • Ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all participants
  • Supporting program promotion, inventory management, and maintenance of municipally owned equipment and supplies
  • Working with volunteers and providing on-site customer service
  • Researching new trends and managing program evaluations, including data collection and reporting
  • Participating in regular staff meetings and contributing to team initiatives

Administrative Summer Intern – 12 weeks – $19/hr – 35 hours/week

Reporting to the Municipal Clerk, the Administrative Summer Intern will play a crucial role in providing support for front counter customer service, payment processing, bank deposit preparation, filing and records management, as well as various database and data entry projects. This position is an excellent opportunity for you to gain practical experience in administrative functions while contributing to the smooth operations of our organization.

Responsibilities include:

  • Greeting and assisting visitors in a professional and friendly manner
  • Providing information and assistance to residents
  • Handling inquiries and directing them to the appropriate personnel
  • Accepting payments for services
  • Preparing bank deposits accurately
  • Assisting with organization and maintenance of physical and electronic filing systems
  • Ensuring confidentiality and security of sensitive information
  • Entering and updating information on databases
  • Conducting data verification and validation procedures
  • Assisting with various administrative and/or financial projects, as directed
