Victoria County Water Utility has contracted Neptune Technology Group to replace approximate 530 standard-sized water meters across the County.

  • Little Narrows – Week of May 29 – June 3
  • Dingwall – Week of June 5 – 10
  • New Haven and Neil’s Harbour – Week of June 12 – 17
  • Ingonish & Area – Week of June 19 – 24

Neptune Technology Group is removing the old meters and installing the new meters and is currently booking appointments.

The new meters will improve accuracy and billing for water utility customers to better manage their water usage and detect water leaks early with reliable data.

Q: Do I need to get the new water meter? Can I opt-out?

  • Yes, you need to get the new meter to get access to municipal water
  • It is mandatory and you cannot opt out
  • The decision was approved by the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board (NSAURB) on April 8, 2022

Q: What’s the cost?

  • The new meter installation is free
  • In the instance a shut-off valve must be installed, the customer is responsible for the cost
  • A shut-off valve is necessary to use the new meters
  • If your current plumbing accepts the meter and it’s working fine, you should not require any upgrades
