Our responsibility is to forward the tax bill to the property owner as it appears on the assessment of the current year. If you have purchased a property or have changed your address, please contact the tax office to update us regarding this change. If you have not received a tax bill, please contact the Tax Department at 902-295-3231.

Residential – $1.22
Commercial – $2.12
Resource Property – $1.22
Residential – Village of Baddeck Area Rate – 0.21
Commercial – Village of Baddeck Area Rate – 0.25
Fire Protection Area Rate – .075
Residential – 1.22 (County) + .21 (Village Tax Rate) + .075 (Fire Protection) = 1.505
Commerical – 2.12 (County) + .25 (Village Tax Rate) + .075 (Fire Protection = 2.445
Village of Baddeck Area Rates are added to County rates.
Interest charges will be added to installments not paid by due date at the rate of 0.83% on the first day of each month in which default continues.

The municipality is offering a one-time property tax instalment program for owners of residential and commercial properties negatively affected by the COVID-19 global pandemic.
You qualify if you are the owner of:
• a residential property that is your primary residence and you have experienced a significant reduction in income due to the State of Emergency;
• a residential property where you are a registered Tourism Operator with Tourism Nova Scotia for the 2019 tourist season (excludes AirBNBs and other accommodations marketing platforms);
• a residential property that is rented to one or more tenants, and you have experienced a significant reduction in rental income from the property due to the State of Emergency;
• taxable commercial properties (shopping, office, industrial, farm) who have experienced financial hardship through loss of revenue related to the State of Emergency
