Tourism & Recreation

Tourism

Municipality of Victoria County is blessed with amazing scenic beauty and some of the best experiences and operators in Canada. With almost 30% of the available accommodations in Cape Breton during the busy summer season, Victoria County has much to offer to both visitors and tourism business operators.

The tourism department works to keep apprised of current trends in destination tourism and to support tourism operators through the creation and execution of an integrated strategy for tourism initiatives in Victoria County that aligns with Nova Scotia Tourism and Destination Cape Breton tourism strategies.

Contact our Tourism Officer, Dan Coffin, should you have any questions about tourism in Victoria County.

Recreation

Active living & recreation are critical components of creating healthy communities. Supporting healthy lifestyles is a preventative measure that Victoria County takes to reduce the factors negatively impacting the health of our communities.

Having fun and enjoying recreational activities is important. However, we must also address the seriousness of physical inactivity; its’ link to chronic disease, and the impact that rural isolation and struggles with mental health can have on our communities. By educating and engaging with community, we can raise awareness and provide opportunities that have been tailored to the needs and interests of our residents.
