Payment of Property Taxes

Victoria County TAX payments can be made the following ways:

  • Cash - please do not send cash in the mail.
  • Cheques - made payable to 'Municipality of Victoria' and include the stub. Postdated cheques are accepted & held by the Tax Dept.
  • Debit card
  • On-Line banking
  • Credit Card - Visa & MasterCard are accepted through Paymentus, a third-party automated payment system. A 1.75% service charge will be added to any credit card payments. A valid email address is required. Credit Card payments can also be made through Paymentus toll-free telephone line by calling 1-855-748-6067.

Please note: Payment is deemed to be made on the date the cheque is received in the Tax Department not on the date of mailing. Payments received after the due date will incur penalty/interest charges.

Change of Ownership

Our responsibility is to forward the tax bill to the property owner as it appears on the assessment of the current year. If you have purchased a property or have changed your address, please contact the tax office to update us regarding this change. If you have not received a tax bill, please contact the Tax Department at 902-295-3231.

Commercial - $2.12
Resource Property - $1.22

Residential - Village of Baddeck Area Rate - 0.21
Commercial - Village of Baddeck Area Rate - 0.25
Fire Protection Area Rate - .075

Village of Baddeck Rates

Residential - 1.22 (County) + .21 (Village Tax Rate) + .075 (Fire Protection) = 1.505
Commerical - 2.12 (County) + .25 (Village Tax Rate) + .075 (Fire Protection = 2.445

Please Note: Village of Baddeck Area Rates are added to County rates.

Interest Charges

Interest charges will be added to installments not paid by due date at the rate of 0.83% on the first day of each month in which default continues.
