Czech Republic Fact-Finding Mission

Victoria County team heading to Czech Republic

Representatives from the Municipality of the County of Victoria Municipality will leave September 12^th, 2023, on a 10-day fact-finding mission to the Czech Republic. 

The representatives, including the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Tourism Manager, Economic Development Officer, as well as Fire and Building officials from Eastern District Planning Commission (EDPC), will evaluate Tree Walk Adventure operations in the South Bohemian Region in Czech Republic.  

The Czech developments are similar in size and structure to the proposed Tree Walk project being planned by Cape Smokey Holding Limited in Ingonish.  

The fact-finding team will tour the various sites, assess building construction, meet with local authorities to discuss infrastructure and its potential impact on Ingonish and surrounding area.   

The South Bohemian area of Czech Republic is a renowned tourist destination, in a remote region which attracts thousands of visitors from around the world.  Many world-class resorts are in this area and have significant experience in the development of sustainable tourism and building development, including infrastructure. 

The fact-finding mission from September 12 – 22, 2023, was approved by Victoria County Council earlier this year.  The municipality will fund approximately $12,000.00 in travel and accommodations.    

Municipal representatives will report their insights and findings publicly at a Victoria County Council in October 2023.
