Ingonish Wastewater Project: Property Owner Survey

Posted on:
October 7, 2026

Victoria County is considering options for Phase 2 of the Wastewater Collection and Treatment System to service residents and businesses north of Cape Smokey. The project is in the preliminary design stage and remains proposed. No decisions have been made about the project.

An information package with the current options and estimated construction costs and a short survey were mailed to property owners in the proposed Phase 2 area on October 6. The proposed area is located north of Cape Smokey to the Cape Breton National Highlands Park.

Survey responses will help the Municipality:

  • to estimate how many properties are likely to connect
  • to estimate how much revenue the system could generate
  • to give a more accurate range for quarterly user rates

The survey results and the resulting cost estimates will be shared publicly, so residents have accurate information about what the project could cost.

Surveys are to be returned by October 23, 2026 using the pre-addressed and stamped envelope included with the information package and survey.
