The Municipality of the County of Victoria, along with funding from the Nova Scotia government and ACOA has helped five organizations offer accessible public washroom facilities in communities across Victoria County.

Since 2019, approximately $386,000 of municipal dollars have been spent! Funding has been provided to the following communities/businesses and non-profit organizations:

  • Baddeck Visitor Information Centre – $113,000
  • Gaelic College, St. Ann’s$67,000
  • Bay St. Lawrence Community Centre – $25,000
  • The Bitsy Bean Cafe, Ingonish$60,000
  • North Highlands Community Museum, Dingwall $35,000
  • Other temporary Facility Funding (portables, seasonal facilities) – $86,000

The public washroom program has helped by complementing their operation with a washroom facility and installing accessible comfort stations.

This means thousands of residents and the travelling public have a place to stop and stay or continue on their journey discovering our beautiful county.

A recent survey of the participants was reported at Victoria County Council on January 22, 2024. If you missed attending the council meeting in person, or online, here’s the report presented to council by Dan Coffin, Manager of Tourism and Recreation for the Municipality of the County of Victoria.
