Dedicated Community Volunteers

The Big Bras d’Or Community group is an energetic, hard-working, and generous group of tireless volunteers is the heartbeat of Big Bras d’Or. Since 2004, when a handful of community members formed to help bring their neighbours together, the core group of dedicated full-time volunteers who range in age from 10 years old to 80 years old, pitch in throughout the year. The community events, luncheons and breakfasts bring in needed financial support, which in turn, help those who find themselves in need. Whether it’s shelter and warm food distributed during the Fiona disaster or supporting a local individual or family needing help making ends meet, these volunteers are there for them.

Thanks to these volunteers’ unwavering dedication, the Hall has modernized the improvements made, including building a new roof, new accessible washrooms and the future looks bright. This caring group makes this Hall one of the busiest and most vibrant communities in the province.
