Victoria County Trails Committee provided a $500 cheque to Cabot Snowmobile Club to be used to honour and celebrate the many volunteers who participated in building the new Highlands Safety & Warming Shelter known as the Pig & Whistle.
With recycled wharf and storage building lumber from Ingonish and Neils Harbour as well as close to $100,000 in donated materials and labour, the Cabot Snowmobile Club led construction of the new building which started on September 13th, 2024.

With only a few finishing touches left, we stopped in to say thank you and job well done to the many clubs, businesses and individuals who donated and worked to make this happen. This new shelter provides a safe base camp if anyone is stranded or has a break down and offers a location to access emergency equipment in the case of someone becoming injured while enjoying the Highlands Trail system.
