Victoria County Transit (VCT) is hiring for two roles: a Transit Driver and a Summer Student Dispatcher. If you’re community-focused and eager to support accessible, door-to-door transportation across Victoria County, we want to hear from you.

Transit Driver (Part-Time)

Start Date: Immediate
Hours: 10–25 hours/week (Monday to Friday only — no evenings or weekends)
Wage: $19/hour
Location: Southern half of Victoria County, with trips to Port Hawkesbury, Inverness, and CBRM

Job Description:
The Transit Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and courteous transportation to VCT clients. This role covers a temporary leave with the potential for ongoing casual or part-time work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a VCT vehicle to transport clients within and outside the County
  • Provide excellent customer service and assist clients as needed

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class 4 Driver’s Licence with condition 16
  • Clean driver’s abstract and current police check
  • Strong driving skills and professional, friendly attitude
  • Familiarity with regional roads and routes is an asset

Summer Student Dispatcher (Hybrid)

Start Date: June 23, 2025
Hours: 30 hours/week for 9 weeks
Wage: $15.70/hour
Location: Hybrid (access to a vehicle, internet, and cell phone required)

Job Description:
The Dispatcher will assist the Transit Administrator by coordinating daily transit operations, scheduling drivers, and communicating with clients. This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support daily scheduling and route coordination
  • Communicate effectively with drivers and clients
  • Provide quick, helpful solutions to scheduling or service issues
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable with online scheduling tools
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be eligible for Canada Summer Jobs:
    • Age 15–30 at the start of employment
    • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee
    • Valid SIN and legal entitlement to work in Canada
  • This is a hybrid position, so access to a vehicle, cell phone, and internet is necessary.
