Victoria County funds $356,015 to local non-profits

Each year, the Municipality of the County of Victoria provides funding to community groups and organizations as one way to recognize the importance of volunteer organizations and the value of engaging residents. Supporting community growth which aligns with the Municipal priorities and current strategies encourages involvement of residents and civic events.

The administration of the Municipal Grants process is led by our Finance Department and is guided by our Municipal Grants Policy. All final funding decisions are made by Victoria County Council.

Municipal Grants fall under the following categories:

  • Development: These grants sponsor events, programs, projects or activities that enhance, support, promote, inform/educate, celebrate, preserve and/or provide access to various specified projects.
  • Capital: These grants support the purchase of property, construction, remodeling or expansion of a facility, and the purchase of equipment.
  • Operational: These grants are provided to community organizations which have a mandate to deliver an ongoing service or program that is generally delivered by a municipality, or complements a service being offered by the Municipality.
  • Property Tax Relief: These grants help eligible non-profit organizations reduce the amount of property tax they pay.

All grant recipients must be a non-profit organization, among other criteria as outlined in the Policy.
