Applications Now Open for ReUse Centre Operators

Charitable and not-for-profit organizations are invited to apply to operate the ReUse Centre.

The ReUse Centre operates seasonally from April to October and offers local organizations the opportunity to raise funds by selling donated items to the public. Each year, community groups can apply to operate the Centre on designated Saturdays, with all proceeds from sales going directly to the organization running the Centre.

Located at the Baddeck Transfer Station, the ReUse Centre collects clean, gently used and working items from residents during regular transfer station hours. These donated items are then sold on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., helping keep usable materials out of our landfills while supporting local community groups.

Organizations selected through the application process are responsible for providing volunteers and a cash float for sales.

The order of participating groups is determined through a random draw of eligible applicants once the application period closes. Operators will be notified and given their dates.

The program continues to have a strong impact locally. In 2025, nine organizations participated and raised more than $21,000.

Charitable and not-for-profit groups interested in participating this year are encouraged to submit an application. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2026.

2025-2026 Municipal Grant Recipients

Every year, the Municipality of the County of Victoria gives funding in the form of grants to local community groups and organizations. It’s one of the ways we celebrate the important work volunteers do to help people in our communities. These grants help grow and support projects that match our community goals and that bring people together.

This year, Victoria County is providing $331,563.26 in funding through the Municipal Grants Program.

The Municipal Grants Program follows the rules in our Municipal Grants Policy. Projects are evaluated by a group of staff members based on the evaluation criteria. The final decisions about who receives funding and the amounts awarded are made by Victoria County Council.

There are different types of Municipal Grants:

Development Grants are one-time grants to help fund events, programs, or projects that make our communities better! This could include things like:

  • Boosting tourism or local businesses
  • Celebrating arts, culture, or local history
  • Beautifying the community or helping the environment
  • Promoting health and wellness
  • Supporting youth or seniors

Capital Grants help non-profit groups pay for big things like buying land, building or fixing a facility, or buying equipment.

Operational Grants are awarded to non-profit groups that provide services or programs that support our community—especially ones that the Municipality would usually provide or which compliment Municipal programs.

Property Tax Relief Grants help eligible non-profit organizations pay less property tax.
