Heavy garbage collection underway

Heavy garbage collection began Monday, May 8!

Roads will be visited only once. Any items left behind remain the responsibility of the resident.

Please read the following for more information on what is accepted and not accepted for the Heavy Garbage Collection in Victoria County. Any item left behind is the responsibility of the resident to remove.

  • Appliances: limit of 5, remove lids from freezers and doors from fridges, dishwashers
  • Furniture: remove drawers from dressers; disassemble any tables or desks
  • Windows: panes of glass should be removed where possible
  • Carpets/Flooring: rolled and tied with no protruding nails or staples

Items Not Accepted
The following items will not be accepted during Heavy Garbage Collection:

  • Items banned from landfills by the province cannot be accepted (i.e. tires and paint).
  • Electronics of any kind are not accepted, including computers, phones, stereos, televisions, DVD players.
  • Microwaves cannot be collected but can be recycled if delivered to Baddeck or Dingwall sites.

Baddeck ReUse Centre
If any can be reused, we ask residents to consider donating them to the Baddeck ReUse Centre where the item will find another home and raise funds for Victoria County charities.
