Gaelic Nova Scotia Month

Cape Breton is home to some of the strongest Gaelic traditions in Nova Scotia, especially here in Victoria County! From our language and music to our stories and sense of community, we are proud of our Gaelic traditions.

May is Mìos nan Gàidheal in Nova Scotia which is a time to celebrate and promote awareness of the history, culture, language, contributions, and achievements of Gaels across the province.

Join us at the Victoria County Municipal Building on Monday, May 5th at 10:45AM as we raise the Gaelic flag and mark the start of Gaelic Nova Scotia Month, celebrating the vibrant culture that we see throughout communities in the County.

This year’s theme is “‘S ann beò a tha a’ Ghàidhlig an Albainn Nuaidh | Gaelic Lives in Nova Scotia.” We hope that this theme serves to show all Nova Scotians the persistence and resilience between Gaels and Gaelic language and culture during the month of May.
