Victoria County Council has accepted the resignation of District 3 Councillor Jess Kerr. Councillor Kerr, who was first elected in October 2024, formally stepped down from his seat for personal reasons.
His resignation was announced during the February 2026 Council meeting, where Warden Organ read a letter submitted by Councillor Kerr.
In accordance with the Municipal Government Act of Nova Scotia, Council has declared the District 3 seat vacant and will proceed with a by-election to fill the position.
Further details regarding the by-election process will be shared through Victoria County’s official communication channels as they become available.
In the interim, Warden Jackie Organ will represent constituents in District 3. She will hold office hours from 12 p.m. – 1p.m. on March 2, May 4th and June 1 at the Municipal Administration Building in Baddeck (495 Chebucto Street) to meet with constituents from District 3.
