Public Works

Public Works is the department that provides Engineering and Works services for the County of Victoria.The department administers and operates the Victoria County Waste Management Facilities in Baddeck and Cape North in addition to the New Haven Recycling Facility and Enviro Depot. The curbside collection of your BlueBags, Organics and Regular Waste are also part of Public Works Services.

The Public Works Department is also responsible for the administration,operations and maintenance of the municipality’s four water supplies under the Victoria County Water Utility. These Public Water Supplies serve the communities of Dingwall, Ingonish, Little Narrows and Neil’s Harbour.

Regular activites include performing such functions as repair of existing piping; valve exercising; fire hydrant repair; installation of water services; preventive maintenance of water  mains; maintenance and inspection of  water pumphouse;  transmission mains, storage facilities and pump facilities. The department also manages the metering and billing requirements of the utility.

The department is responsible for ensuring the supplies operate effectively and efficiently while adhering to the approvals and guidelines for public water supplies.
