North Transfer Station

Victoria County is planning a new Waste Management Facility on County-owned land in New Haven, Nova Scotia (PID 85176899), approximately two kilometres north of the existing New Haven Recycling Depot. The project addresses capacity constraints at the current Dingwall Transfer Station and the operational inefficiencies of having waste and recycling services in two different locations.

The proposed facility would consolidate waste management services in the same location including:

  • a transfer station
  • recycling depot
  • reuse building and
  • household hazardous waste

Importantly, this facility is a transfer station, not a landfill. Waste materials will be temporarily received and then transported offsite to approved disposal or processing facilities. No waste will be buried or permanently stored onsite.

The project has been identified as a priority by Victoria County Council. A preliminary design tender is planned for 2026 to assess feasibility, costs and design details before final decisions are made.
